Lahore: The Punjab Government has approved a PKR 40 billion development package aimed at enhancing infrastructure, housing, healthcare, and agriculture in the provincial capital. Key Developments and Investments

A recent high-level meeting reviewed the province’s ongoing development projects, focusing on transparency, fund utilization, and quality assurance to ensure timely execution. Here’s a breakdown of the major initiatives:

1. Housing & Urban Development

Under the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” scheme, significant progress has been made:
80 houses completed in just four months.
Record-breaking home loans issued to facilitate affordable housing.

2. Healthcare Expansion

The Punjab Government has prioritized healthcare development with major upgrades, including:
1,250 upgraded basic & rural health centers
1,200 new dispensaries established
432 completed healthcare projects, with Phase 2 now underway.

3. Agricultural Support for Farmers

To empower farmers, the government has allocated:
PKR 50 billion through the Kissan Card program for tractor purchases.
PKR 9.5 billion for a tube well installation scheme (PKR 2.5 billion already utilized, PKR 6 billion more to be distributed).

4. Heritage & Archaeology Preservation

Five major archaeological restoration projects will be completed by March.

5. Large-Scale Development & Monitoring

Between November 1 and February 10, 32 major development projects were assessed for efficiency and progress.

Increased Budget for Punjab Development

The overall Punjab development budget has seen a rise from PKR 882 billion to PKR 1,048 billion, with:
PKR 693 billion released for development.
PKR 401 billion already spent on infrastructure and public welfare.
Ongoing 547 projects, including:

  • 81 special initiatives
  • 815 general development programs
  • 3,007 district-level schemes
