CDA Announces Major Upgrades for Islamabad: New Food Streets, Traffic Solutions & Beautification Plans

Islamabad, Pakistan – In a significant move to enhance public amenities and urban infrastructure, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has unveiled a series of ambitious development projects. These include the revamp of Melody Food Street, the establishment of a new food street in Blue Area, and various traffic management and beautification initiatives across the capital.

The decisions were finalized during a high-level meeting at CDA Headquarters, chaired by Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, with board members and senior officials in attendance.

Revitalizing Islamabad’s Food Scene

1. Upgrading Melody Food Street

One of the key projects is the modernization of Melody Food Street, a beloved culinary hotspot in Islamabad. The CDA plans to introduce:

  • Enhanced lighting for a vibrant atmosphere
  • Improved parking facilities for better accessibility
  • Strict food quality checks by the Islamabad Food Authority

Chairman Randhawa emphasized, “Melody Food Street is an iconic landmark, and we want citizens to enjoy high-quality food in a well-managed, aesthetically pleasing environment.”

2. New Food Street in Blue Area

To further boost Islamabad’s dining culture, the CDA will develop a brand-new food street in Blue Area, featuring:

  • Decorative lighting and landscaping
  • Dedicated parking spaces
  • A diverse range of food options

This addition aims to provide residents and visitors with more culinary variety while promoting local businesses.

Traffic Management & Auto Bazaar Plans

With increasing congestion in commercial zones, especially on weekends, the CDA has directed officials to:

  • Develop an efficient traffic management plan
  • Establish organized vehicle bazaars to streamline auto-related business activities

These measures are expected to reduce bottlenecks and improve mobility in high-traffic areas.

Beautification & Sustainability Efforts

As part of the CDA’s green city vision, several beautification projects are underway:

  • Replacing faulty streetlights on major roads (Margalla Road, Expressway, etc.)
  • Expanding green spaces with more trees and floral arrangements along Club Road, Faisal Avenue, and Jinnah Avenue

Progress on Gandhara Heritage Club & Other Projects

The meeting also reviewed ongoing developments, including the Gandhara Heritage Club, with Chairman Randhawa stressing the need for timely completion.

A Vision for a Model Capital

“We are committed to making Islamabad a model city in terms of infrastructure and public facilities,” stated Randhawa. “The capital’s development, prosperity, and beauty remain our top priorities.”

Why This Matters for Property Buyers & Investors

These initiatives signal long-term growth for Islamabad, making it an even more attractive destination for:

  • Real estate investors (rising commercial & recreational value)
  • Homebuyers (improved infrastructure & amenities)
  • Business owners (new opportunities in food & retail sectors)
