CDA Launches Major Beautification Drive to Enhance Islamabad’s Urban Charm

Islamabad, often celebrated as one of the most beautiful capitals in the world, is about to get even more stunning. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has officially kicked off a city-wide beautification and infrastructure uplift campaign, focusing on revitalizing Islamabad’s green spaces, major roads, and public landmarks. This initiative aims to improve the city’s aesthetics while reinforcing its status as an eco-friendly, livable, and tourism-friendly capital.

A Vision for a Greener, Cleaner Islamabad

This transformative campaign was unveiled during a high-level meeting at CDA Headquarters, chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa. Attended by key officials from the Environment, Planning, and Engineering departments, the meeting laid the groundwork for a series of projects designed to elevate Islamabad’s urban landscape.

Key Roads to Be Upgraded in Phase One

In the first phase of the project, five major roads have been selected for a complete overhaul:

  • Islamabad Expressway
  • Margalla Road
  • Club Road
  • Park Road
  • Faisal Avenue

These upgrades will include lane repainting, footpath repairs, beautification of green belts, and improved landscaping across right-of-way areas. These changes are expected to not only improve daily commutes but also significantly increase the visual appeal of these high-traffic routes.

Restoring the City’s Iconic Fountains and Parks

One of the campaign’s standout features is the restoration of 23 dormant water fountains across the city—an element that once defined Islamabad’s charm. The CDA also plans to enhance major urban parks, introduce model highways lined with seasonal flowers, wooden signage, natural boulders, and modern lighting systems for safety and ambiance.

In addition, roundabouts throughout Islamabad will receive a facelift, incorporating updated designs and greenery to blend function with beauty.

Urban Forests and Eco-Friendly Development

The CDA is also placing strong emphasis on eco-sustainability. Projects such as urban forest development are in the pipeline to fight air pollution and support local biodiversity. These initiatives are aligned with ongoing tree plantation drives and other green campaigns that aim to position Islamabad as a model eco-city in Pakistan.

Parks Within Sectors to Receive Modern Facilities

Under Chairman Randhawa’s directives, all parks within Islamabad’s residential sectors will be upgraded with:

  • New walking tracks
  • Modern children’s play areas
  • Enhanced horticulture
  • Upgraded lighting systems

These improvements aim to create a more enjoyable and healthier environment for families, joggers, and daily visitors alike.

Strong Public Support and Lasting Impact

According to CDA officials, the public has responded enthusiastically to the initial stages of the beautification work, especially where improvements are already visible along key roads. Chairman Randhawa has assured that all developments will be closely monitored to ensure quality, timely completion, and lasting benefits for Islamabad’s residents.

Why This Matters for Islamabad Real Estate

As the city becomes more attractive and sustainable, these efforts are expected to positively impact Islamabad’s real estate market. Improved infrastructure, greener surroundings, and better urban planning make Islamabad an even more desirable place to live and invest. Whether you’re a homeowner, investor, or developer, these enhancements signal growth, value, and opportunity.
