Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has unveiled its ambitious Spring Tree Plantation Drive 2025, aimed at enhancing the capital’s green cover. This large-scale afforestation initiative will involve corporate organizations, NGOs, students, and the general public, reinforcing Islamabad’s reputation as a sustainable and eco-friendly city.
Key Highlights of the Plantation Drive
- Official Launch Date: February 19, 2025
- Locations: F-9 Park, Shakarparian, urban and rural areas, and along Islamabad’s nullahs
- Innovative Afforestation: Seed balls will be dispersed in Margalla Hills National Park using helicopters and drones.
Corporate & Public Participation
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa chaired a high-level meeting at CDA Headquarters, attended by representatives from Nestlé, Centaurus Mall, Garana, Imarat Group of Companies, Agency 21, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
He urged private sector brands and companies to take an active role in environmental conservation by adopting designated plantation zones. Additionally, students will be encouraged to participate in tree-planting activities across the city.
Public Engagement & Monitoring
To promote community involvement, the CDA will:
✅ Set up plant distribution stalls in major parks and commercial hubs
✅ Introduce a digital monitoring system for tracking planted trees online
✅ Publish a list of indigenous, climate-compatible plants on its website
✅ Prioritize fruit-bearing and flowering trees for ecological and aesthetic benefits
