Enhancing Islamabad’s Gas Infrastructure: A Strategic Collaboration Between CDA and SNGPL

Islamabad, January 1, 2025 – The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is taking proactive steps to address Islamabad’s gas infrastructure challenges through strategic collaboration with Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). In a recent meeting at CDA Headquarters, Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa underscored the urgency of modernizing the city’s gas pipeline network and ensuring a steady supply for residents and businesses.

Modernizing Islamabad’s Gas Pipeline Network

The meeting, attended by CDA officials and the General Manager of SNGPL, focused on replacing the aging gas pipeline infrastructure in Islamabad’s primary sectors. This modernization effort is a vital step toward enhancing the efficiency and safety of the city’s gas supply system.

To expedite progress, Chairman Randhawa instructed the CDA’s Engineering and Environment Wings to fast-track the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs). This move demonstrates CDA’s commitment to facilitating essential infrastructure projects that directly impact the quality of life in Islamabad.

Addressing Winter Gas Shortages

SNGPL presented a detailed action plan to combat seasonal gas shortages, particularly during the peak winter months. Measures include maintaining consistent gas pressure and ensuring uninterrupted supply during critical hours. This initiative aims to mitigate the inconvenience caused by fluctuating gas availability during the colder months.

Prioritizing Key Projects

Chairman Randhawa highlighted the importance of extending gas connections to high-priority projects, such as the Gandhara Citizen Club in Sector F-9. He praised SNGPL’s efficient handling of service line relocations for major developments, which plays a crucial role in the timely completion of these projects.

A Commitment to Collaboration

The strategic meeting reflects the CDA and SNGPL’s shared commitment to resolving Islamabad’s gas infrastructure challenges through efficient planning and execution. By working together, the two organizations aim to modernize the city’s gas supply system and ensure a reliable energy source for its growing population.
